I am a passionate human rights advocate who is interested in using the law as a tool to help empower marginalized communities.
Before joining Hameed Law, I worked both domestically and internationally on projects in human rights, law reform, and access to justice. I took part in the Canadian Bar Association’s (CBA) Young Lawyers International Program, where I acted as a Legal Consultant to Natural Justice, who specializes in human rights and environmental law in Africa. Prior to this, I worked as a Summer Student at one of Canada’s leading business law firms; assisted in trauma-informed peacebuilding and social justice initiatives to help empower local communities in Rwanda as a Legal Intern with Initiatives for Peace and Human Rights; and worked as a Legal Research Assistant at Human Rights in Practice, an international human rights practice run by Dr. Helen Duffy, that specializes in advancing the rule of law and victims’ rights globally through strategic human rights litigation.
I hold a B.A. in Global Development Studies from the University of Western Ontario, an LL.B. from the University of Sussex, and an Advanced LL.M. in Public International Law from Leiden University.
I currently am a member of UNHCR Canada’s Young Leaders Committee.
