As an associate at Hameed Law, Nick is motivated to apply and challenge the law as a vehicle for positive social change. He is committed to the vindication of the rights of all members of our community, but particularly for those groups that are typically underrepresented and disadvantaged in society.
Nick currently practices in the areas of employment and human rights law, defamation, and civil litigation more broadly. He has successfully appeared before the Superior Court of Justice, the Small Claims Court, and the Social Benefits Tribunal.
Called to the bar in 2020 after completing his articles with Hameed Law, Nick graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law (JD, 2019). He also holds a Master’s of Public Administration from Queen’s University (MPA, 2012), and an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences from the University of Ottawa (BHSc magna cum laude, 2011).
During law school, Nick summered with Community Legal Services of Ottawa where he represented clients seeking to appeal income support decisions of the Ontario Disability Support Program. Nick also completed internships within Judges Chambers of the Ontario Court of Justice, the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, and working with a federal Member of Parliament.
Prior to attending law school, he worked for three years with the Division of Infectious Diseases at The Ottawa Hospital where he modernized its model of care for people living with HIV and conducted and published related research in conjunction with Ottawa Public Health and the University of Ottawa.
Outside of the office, Nick is actively involved in community development initiatives serving as a founding Board Member of MAX Ottawa - Ontario’s first and only organization targeting the health and wellness of queer men - for which he was awarded a Canada 150 Outstanding Community Builder award in 2017.
Nick is originally from Sault Ste. Marie and is a member of the County of Carleton Law Association.
